Please join The Chipper Bird Boutique at the Bellingham Gallery Walk Friday, Oct. 7th from 6pm – 9pm. The Chipper Bird will host an exhibition featuring local Inventor/Designer Mickey Blake. Mickey will feature 14 Floral Soil botanical interpretations of food using various waste feedstocks.
Floral Soil was invented as an organic alternative for fossil fuel derived chemical foams used for more than 6 decades of cut flower design. Floral Soil is a non-toxic, biodegradable, multi-functional design medium. Floral Soil is not only renewable, it’s made primarily of waste.
There is significant social and environmental equity in every element of Floral Soil design. Flowers are an interpretation of feelings, with food we create memories and celebrate momentous occasions. Inspired to share the many artistic uses for Floral Soil, Mickey stepped into the field of design to see Floral Soil become much more than a disposable medium thrown away after flowers die. Beautiful things can be created over and over again and then give life to something new. The exhibition will run through Saturday, Oct 8th. A DIY botanical pastry design station will be open Saturday from 12 pm – 5 pm.
Refreshments will be served
