I’ve been admiring the creative spirit of eco-inventor Mickey Blake for some time but her latest “baby” blew my mind. Floral Soil is a solution our planet desperately needs! Mickey recently facilitated a hands-on workshop at the Federal Way library, where she perfectly combined her scientific knowledge with an effective teaching style that matched the realities of informal education. She spiced her workshop up with engaging anecdotes and relevant examples; explaining complicated science and engineering behind her invention to a lay audience of different ages. It was a stunning example of clear science communication.

One of the most versatile products I’ve ever seen and experienced. So many opportunities and possibilities.

I love a beautiful succulent arrangement but have been hesitant to purchase them in the past because I have a hard time keeping them alive. I bit the bullet and ordered a Floral Soil Botanical Cupcake arrangement which arrived quickly, in an adorable box wrapped in twine. The arrangement was filled with deep purples and vibrant greens! Not only was the cupcake gorgeous, it is alive and just as colorful 5 weeks later! The low maintenance “soil” only requires a couple spritzes of water a week to maintain its original beauty. I would definitely recommend Floral Soil to anyone looking to add beauty to a room. Added bonus: Floral Soil is eco-friendly and free of any harmful chemicals often added to maintain freshness.

My Floral Soil Botanical arrangement arrived in perfect condition and smells divine! I can’t breath it’s so beautiful. Can’t wait to show everyone I know! What an amazing creation!!

I loved my floral arrangement made with Floral Soil. The flowers held up very well for nearly two weeks and required very little water. Once the flowers died, we re-used the Floral Soil and now have various forms of mint, basil, oregano and English cucumbers growing. Each plant originated in Floral Soil as a cutting or seed and was then transferred to larger outdoor planters on my deck. It is a real treat to see plants growing and thriving in something that would have normally been thrown away.

I’m very impressed with my first floral arrangement using all-natural Floral Soil. I received my arrangement a week and a half ago and the foliage still looks fresh and new. It required very little water; only once and it was quickly absorbed keeping the flowers consistently moist. I’m most excited about re-using the “soil” to start an herb garden once the flowers are gong. Creating another beautiful thing rather than more trash for the landfill.

I’m really impressed with Floral Soil’s performance and flexibility. I had floral arrangement made for my daughter’s baby shower. After about 10 days, the old flowers were removed and more added to the same “foam”. The second arrangement lasted another 10-12 days. After the two arrangements had gone, I took cuttings from my fuschia plant and inserted them into the foam. Root formation was evident a few days later and now they are starting to bloom.

I experienced my first Floral Soil Design Lab last year. The class featured Floral Soil Founder, Mickey Blake’s Botanical Bakery designs. Myself and a few other fun-loving women, gathered for over 2 hrs of conversation, camaraderie and creative expression. I had a blast getting to know these ladies and letting my inner artist loose! The flowers and sedums provided as design materials were well chosen for color, form and harmony. They meshed together beautifully. The other thing I like about Design Lab is there are no rules and no one way or right way of doing things. You make your design exactly how you want to please yourself. So no pressure and no judgement. Your can just relax and enjoy the experience. An you will! In fact, you’ll probably want to go back for more. I did!

I have not yet had a floral arrangement in Floral Soil but a friend gave me veggie plants grown from seed in the recycled “foam”. The plants were healthy and grew beautifully when planted in my garden. The next time I order flowers, I will make sure to request Floral Soil. I’m not sure if I’m more excited about the flowers or what I can grow once they’ve died.

We have two tomato plants grown in recycled Floral Soil. The plants are just as healthy as the nursery stock we purchased and are loaded with fruit. I’m very impressed with this material and look forward to further developments.
